Happy International Women’s Day #AccelerateAction
We, at Revive, want to wish everyone a Happy International Women’s Day 2025. In our celebration of all women and girls, we want to draw particular attention to the women in our community that have sought refuge here in the UK. We stand in solidarity with you and are so thankful for all that you are and all that you do. Thank you to all of the women who work and volunteer so tirelessly at Revive. You help us to maintain our community which proudly and steadfastly supports Asylum seekers and Refugees in Greater Manchester and London.
The United Nations’ theme for this years celebrations is ‘For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’. In order to establish a future in which all women and girls are ensured equal rights and opportunities, we must uplift and empower women from every community. This is especially true for the over 60 million women and girls who remain forcibly displaced or stateless globally (UNHCR 2025).
The inherent challenges stemming from displacement, which include navigating life in a new country, are exacerbated by the current hostile environment which makes this transition so much harder. Women are not only facing barriers to employment but also barriers to suitable housing, to proper healthcare. We must continue to work towards the establishment of a society which better protects vulnerable groups and enables them to thrive.
