The Power of Compassion in Action

The Power of Compassion in Action: How Albert Gubay Foundation Funding is Transforming Lives at Revive

At Revive, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, safety, and hope. For more than 20 years, we have supported refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants across Greater Manchester, helping some of the most marginalised members of our communities’ overcome barriers and rebuild their lives. Our work is rooted in social justice, compassion and a commitment to standing alongside those who often have nowhere else to turn.

Thanks to the generous support of the Albert Gubay Foundation, Revive has been able to strengthen and sustain this vital work at a time when demand for our services has never been greater.

A Lifeline for People Facing Multiple Challenges

Every year, Revive supports thousands of people who are navigating complex immigration systems while also dealing with homelessness, poverty, trauma, social isolation, poor health, domestic abuse or modern slavery. Many of the people who come through our doors have experienced unimaginable hardship and are trying to build a new life in an unfamiliar country.
Our Advice and Advocacy Project offers a holistic approach. We do not simply address immigration issues; we help people overcome the many interconnected challenges that can prevent them from thriving. This includes support with housing, benefits, healthcare, education, family reunification, and access to essential services.
For many individuals and families, Revive is the only organisation they trust and the only place where they can access free, professional advice without an appointment through our regular drop-in sessions.

Responding to Growing Need

The demand for refugee and migrant support services across Greater Manchester continues to rise. New arrivals from Ukraine, Afghanistan and Hong Kong, alongside growing numbers of asylum seekers and long-standing unresolved immigration cases, have created increasing pressure on support organisations like Revive.

At the same time, immigration casework has become more complex. Many of our service users have experienced torture, trafficking, domestic abuse, or modern slavery. Others have spent years waiting for decisions on their immigration status, leaving them trapped in uncertainty and often in poverty.
Against this backdrop, sustainable funding is essential to ensure that vulnerable people continue to receive the support they need.

What the Albert Gubay Foundation Grant Has Made Possible

The funding awarded by the Albert Gubay Foundation has enabled Revive to maintain and strengthen our professional advice and advocacy services during a period of significant financial uncertainty. The grant has helped safeguard key frontline roles, ensuring that our experienced team can continue providing high-quality immigration advice, advocacy and social support.

As a result of this support, we have been able to:

• Continue providing specialist immigration advice and advocacy for refugees, people seeking asylum and vulnerable migrants.
• Support individuals and families experiencing homelessness or insecure housing to access safer and more stable accommodation.
• Help separated families navigate complex family reunion processes.
• Assist people living in poverty and destitution to access benefits, emergency support, and other essential services.
• Support survivors of domestic abuse and modern slavery to rebuild their lives in safety.
• Ensure vulnerable individuals continue to receive long-term support rather than short-term interventions.
The grant has not only protected services but has also provided stability, allowing us to focus on meeting the growing needs of our communities rather than reducing support during a time of increasing demand.

Delivering Social Justice Through Partnership

At Revive, social justice means more than providing practical support. It means challenging exclusion, promoting equality, and ensuring that every person has access to the opportunities and services they need to live a fulfilling life.
The Albert Gubay Foundation shares many of these values through its commitment to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people. Their investment in Revive is an investment in human dignity, social inclusion, and community cohesion. It enables us to advocate for those whose voices are too often unheard and to help people overcome barriers created by poverty, discrimination, and complex systems.

Looking Ahead

The challenges facing refugees, people seeking asylum, and vulnerable migrants are unlikely to diminish anytime soon. Rising living costs, housing shortages, and increasingly complex immigration processes continue to place immense pressure on vulnerable individuals and families.
However, thanks to the support of the Albert Gubay Foundation, Revive can continue providing the professional, compassionate, and person-centered support that has transformed lives across Greater Manchester for more than two decades.
Every successful immigration application, every family reunited, every individual moved from destitution to stability, and every person supported to feel safe and valued is a testament to what can be achieved when compassionate funding and community action come together.
We are deeply grateful to the Albert Gubay Foundation for helping us continue this important work and for standing with us in our mission to create welcoming, inclusive, and just communities for all.
Revive supports refugees, people seeking asylum, and vulnerable migrants across Greater Manchester through advice, advocacy, social work support, volunteering opportunities, and community activities. Together, we help people rebuild their lives, realise their potential, and become active members of their communities.
